Help Center & FAQs

This page answers common questions for buyers and sellers about usage, payments, security, data ownership, and non-custodial operations.

What is GeoChain Marketplace?

GeoChain is a non-custodial marketplace for geographic data and services. Buyers and sellers transact directly using linked crypto wallets. The platform does not hold customer funds or custody user wallets.

How do I sell my data?

Go to “Sell” and create a listing with title, description, pricing, and preview. Upload sample or preview files if applicable. Set subcategory and attributes. Your wallet address will receive sales proceeds according to the configured payment method.

Can GeoChain access the geodata that I sell?

No. GeoChain is non-custodial and does not have standing access to your full-resolution geodata. We only process minimal metadata and optional previews you choose to upload. Full data access is restricted to the seller and authorized buyers according to the listing terms.

Can anyone, except the buyer, access the geodata that I sell?

No, not by default. Only the buyer who completes payment receives time-limited, account-bound access tokens or download permissions. Public previews may be watermarked or limited, while full-resolution files remain restricted. Unauthorized access attempts are blocked and logged.

How do I buy a product?

Open a listing, review the description and preview, connect your wallet, and complete the on-chain payment. If fiat payment is available, you can pay via Stripe/PayPal off-chain. Your access to data is granted once payment is confirmed.

How our fees work

GeoChain applies a 5% marketplace service fee to successful transactions. The fee is shared fairly: 3% from the Seller and 2% from the Buyer. This funds secure escrow, encrypted delivery, dispute handling, and platform reliability. Example: for a $10 listing, Buyer pays $10.20 and Seller receives $9.70.

Which wallets are supported?

Popular EVM wallets such as MetaMask and OKX are supported. You must link a wallet to your account before purchasing or receiving payouts.

Can I pay by card or PayPal?

Yes. The marketplace supports off-chain fiat payments via Stripe (card) and PayPal. When used, the on-chain escrow is bypassed and payment status is tracked off-chain with secure webhooks. Sellers can be paid via Stripe Connect or PayPal Commerce Platform.

Do you support cross-chain payments?

We can support cross-chain payments on testnets using Axelar/Squid for bridging. In production, supported networks and assets will be announced. Buyers may bridge assets before paying on the destination chain.

Is the marketplace custodial?

No. It is non-custodial. Your wallet stays under your control. The platform does not hold private keys or retain funds on behalf of users.

Who owns the data?

Sellers retain ownership of their data. Buyers receive a license and access according to the listing terms. Exclusive ownership or exclusivity terms must be explicitly stated by the seller in the listing.

Is my data exclusive when I buy?

Not by default. Exclusivity is a contractual term defined by the seller in the listing. If exclusivity is offered, the listing will clearly state it and any conditions or limitations.

How is security handled?

Wallet authentication uses industry-standard methods (e.g., SIWE) and secure providers. Payments are either on-chain (via smart contracts) or off-chain through PCI-compliant providers (Stripe/PayPal). Access tokens and downloads are protected and logged.

Do you store my payment information?

No. Card and PayPal details are handled by Stripe/PayPal. We store only the necessary payment metadata (method, provider, transaction ID, status) to fulfill orders and support audits.

What happens if a purchase fails?

If on-chain payment fails, the transaction is not mined and no funds are transferred. If off-chain payment fails, the order remains unpaid. You can retry the payment. If you were charged by card/PayPal but access was not granted, contact support with your transaction ID.

How are refunds handled?

On-chain refunds follow smart contract logic and dispute policies. Off-chain (card/PayPal) refunds are processed via Stripe/PayPal according to platform and seller policies. Refunds will revoke data access when applicable.

How are disputes handled?

Open a dispute from your purchases page with details and evidence. The platform and the seller will review. On-chain disputes follow smart contract rules. Off-chain disputes follow payment provider policies and marketplace guidelines.

Can I limit downloads or enforce watermarks?

Sellers can provide preview files and set download rules. The platform supports preview generation and can watermark previews. Full-resolution downloads are available only after confirmed payment.

Do you collect personal data?

We collect minimal operational data (account, wallet address, purchase records, support messages). For fiat payments, Stripe/PayPal may collect additional KYC/compliance information. See the Privacy Policy on the landing site for details.

Can I get invoices or receipts?

Yes. Receipts are available in your purchases history. For fiat payments, Stripe/PayPal email receipts are also available. Contact support for VAT/tax documentation if needed.

Do you support seller payouts?

Yes. On-chain sales settle directly to the seller’s wallet. Off-chain sales use Stripe Connect or PayPal Commerce to route funds and fees securely to the seller and the marketplace.

How can I contact support?

Use the Messages page to open a support conversation. Provide your listing or order ID and any relevant details. For urgent billing issues, include your Stripe session ID or PayPal order ID. You can also reach us on Discord: https://discord.gg/a4YxMcgDCE.
